Asha Balakrishnan, M.D.

Dr. Asha Balakrishnan, M.D. is a board-certified ophthalmologist and fellowship-trained cataract, cornea, and refractive surgeon at DLV Vision. She brings over a decade of experience and has performed thousands of successful surgeries. Before joining DLV Vision, she served as Director of the Cornea & Refractive Surgery Service and Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Louisville, later moving into private practice in the Los Angeles area. Her outstanding work earned her the 2022 Vision Care Specialist of the Year award from the Ventura County Medical Research Foundation and recognition on the 2023 Top Doctor List by Los Angeles Magazine, as voted by her peers.

Beyond her surgical practice, Dr. Balakrishnan has contributed to medical literature in respected journals such as Review of Ophthalmology, Cataract & Refractive Surgery Today, and International Ophthalmology Clinics. She has presented at major national conferences including the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgery.

Outside of medicine, she is passionate about service and advocacy. She founded M.U.S.E. to bring music to nursing homes, led local chapters of women’s associations, supported domestic violence and eating disorder awareness, and volunteered at clinics for underserved communities. In memory of her father, Dr. Siva Balakrishnan, she continues to raise funds for pancreatic cancer research—honoring the compassionate spirit and medical excellence he inspired in her.
