Dr. Mai provides comprehensive, full-scope care for patients with glaucoma, cataracts, and refractive needs. His glaucoma offerings include advanced diagnostic evaluation, long-term management, and procedural options—including iDose—with treatment plans tailored to each patient’s condition and goals.
Education, Certification, and Background
A Southern California native, Dr. Mai completed his undergraduate studies in Microbiology and Immunology at UCLA, where he graduated summa cum laude. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine and completed his internship and ophthalmology residency at the University of Utah’s Moran Eye Center.
Dr. Mai further advanced his expertise through dual fellowship training. He completed an anterior segment fellowship at Vance Thompson Vision, receiving advanced surgical training in cornea, glaucoma, and refractive surgery. He also completed a global ophthalmology fellowship at the Moran Eye Center, broadening his experience in delivering high-quality eye care across diverse settings.
In addition to clinical care, Dr. Mai is deeply committed to education—both locally and internationally—with a focus on expanding access to high-quality eye care by training and empowering local physicians through education and surgical mentorship.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Mai enjoys the outdoors and can often be found camping, backpacking, or snowboarding.
