Dr. Mai is dedicated to excellence in anterior segment surgery and patient-centered ophthalmic care. He works closely with each patient to understand symptoms, review testing results, and outline clear next steps—whether that includes monitoring, medical therapy, procedural options, or cataract surgery planning.

Education, Certification, and Background

A Southern California native, Dr. Mai completed his undergraduate studies in Microbiology and Immunology at UCLA, earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Iowa, and completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Utah’s Moran Eye Center.

In addition to clinical care, Dr. Mai is deeply committed to education—both locally and internationally. He has a strong passion for global ophthalmology, with a focus on expanding access to high-quality eye care by training and empowering local physicians through education and surgical mentorship.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Mai enjoys the outdoors and can often be found camping, backpacking, or snowboarding.
