Cataract Vision Correction Packages: Lens Options

At the time of cataract surgery, an intraocular lens (IOL) must be placed into the eye to replace your natural lens in order for you to see. Traditionally, a basic IOL was placed at the time of surgery with the expectation that glasses, or contacts would be needed to maximize vision after surgery. At DLV Vision, we offer a range of IOL’s as part of a Premium IOL package that can help improve vision and decrease or eliminate the need for glasses or contact lenses at the time of surgery. Unlike many surgeons, at DLV Vision, we see each cataract surgery as a unique opportunity to correct your vision to minimize the use of glasses. Each Premium IOL Package offered at our center includes astigmatism diagnosis and correction as well as Laser Vision Correction (LASIK or PRK) at no charge after surgery, if necessary, to maximize your vision without glasses.

Light Adjustable Lens (LAL)

The Light Adjustable Lens provides a level of postoperative customization unmatched by traditional implants. After your cataract procedure, your vision can be fine-tuned using controlled UV light treatments, allowing your surgeon to adjust the lens power based on how your eyes heal and how you use your vision day to day.

This option is ideal for patients who want the highest degree of precision and are willing to participate in the adjustment process to achieve their desired outcome.

Extended Depth of Focus (EDOF)

Acrysof IQ Vivity

The Vivity IOL delivers a continuous range of vision with an emphasis on distance and intermediate clarity, making it well-suited for activities like driving and computer use. Its non-diffractive optical design helps maintain image quality while minimizing visual side effects such as halos and glare.

A toric version is available to address astigmatism, allowing for sharper, more consistent vision across distances.

Multifocal/Trifocal

AcrySof IQ PanOptix

PanOptix Pro is engineered to provide functional vision at near, intermediate, and distance ranges, helping many patients significantly reduce their reliance on glasses.

This lens is a strong fit for individuals who want greater visual independence for everyday tasks—from reading and phone use to driving—while maintaining consistent performance across multiple focal points.

enVista Envy IOL

The enVista Envy IOL is designed to enhance overall visual quality with improved clarity and stability in a variety of lighting conditions. It helps minimize visual disturbances while supporting a broader range of vision than traditional monofocal lenses.

Patients often choose this lens for its balance of sharp vision and reduced visual symptoms, along with its ability to support daily activities with less reliance on corrective eyewear.

Small Aperture Technology / IC-8 Apthera IOL

The IC-8 Apthera IOL uses a small aperture design to extend depth of focus and improve image sharpness. By filtering peripheral light, it can reduce the impact of corneal irregularities and improve overall visual quality.

This makes it a valuable option for patients with prior refractive surgery or irregular corneas who may not be ideal candidates for multifocal or traditional EDOF lenses.

Premium Monofocal/Toric IOLs

enVista Aspire IOL

The enVista Aspire IOL is designed for patients who prioritize crisp, high-contrast vision with minimal visual disturbances. It offers dependable distance vision with improved optical quality compared to standard lenses.

Toric options are available to correct astigmatism, helping reduce residual blur and improve overall clarity.

Astigmatism-Correcting (Toric) IOLs

Astigmatism can cause blurred or distorted vision due to an irregular corneal shape. Toric IOLs are specifically designed to correct this at the time of cataract surgery.

Many of the premium lenses offered at DLV Vision are available in toric versions, allowing simultaneous treatment of cataracts and astigmatism for more precise visual outcomes.

Standard Monofocal IOL (Insurance-Covered Option)

A standard monofocal lens restores vision at a single focal point, typically distance. While it effectively treats cataracts, most patients will still require glasses for reading or intermediate tasks.

This option is commonly covered by insurance or Medicare and serves as a reliable baseline solution for vision restoration.

Multifocal IOLs

If you’re looking to release yourself from the dependency of glasses after surgery and you cannot tolerate monovision (1 eye set for distance and 1 eye set for near), you should ask about the options for multifocal lenses to expand your range of vision. Multifocal IOL’s work by using diffraction rings on the lens that optically split the incoming light into distance and near so that you can see both distance and nearby the brain paying attention to the appropriate image.

Basic Monofocal IOLs

Monofocal IOL’s are lenses that have been used for decades as part of cataract surgery. The advantage of a Monofocal lens it that they allow your doctor to set different ranges of focus. After your consultation, your doctor will suggest setting the distance for near or far vision. Based on the focus setting of your Monofocal lens, a patient will still need to wear glasses for distance vision or reading glasses for close up. Most cataract patients that choose the Monofocal lens elect to set the IOL’s for distance vision, then relying on reading glasses for close up objects.
