Recovery from LASIK Surgery
Sub Title
LASIK is the go-to vision correction procedure for those who have nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism. If you’re interested in living life without having to wear glasses or contacts, you may be wondering about how long LASIK takes and what the recovery process is like.
LASIK takes just four minutes per eye, and patients have improved vision almost immediately. In fact, after undergoing the procedure, most patients are able to return to work the very next day!
The epithelial incision heals within a few hours. The most common side effect of the procedure is mild haziness, which is caused by surface dryness and flap swelling. However, this typically goes away after 4-6 hours.
Patients may also experience itching sensations, burning, and irritation. Post-op, you’ll want to rest and protect your eyes as much as possible. This means wearing sunglasses, using eye drops, and avoiding rubbing your eyes at all costs.
