Tony Mai, M.D., is a board-certified, fellowship-trained ophthalmologist specializing in cataract, glaucoma, cornea, and refractive surgery. He provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment for patients seeking to protect and enhance their vision, offering personalized, patient-centered care.

His expertise includes advanced lens procedures, EVO ICL implantable lenses, and micro-invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS).

Education, Certification, and Background

Dr. Mai graduated summa cum laude from UCLA and earned Alpha Omega Alpha and Gold Humanism distinctions in medical school. He completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Utah’s Moran Eye Center, where he serves as adjunct faculty, mentoring future ophthalmologists.

He has participated in global health initiatives in Tanzania, Guatemala, Mexico, India, Vietnam, and with the Navajo Nation, focusing on education and surgical training. Dr. Mai is fluent in Vietnamese and proficient in Spanish. 

Outside of medicine, he is “radically curious” by nature and enjoys crafting self-made cocktails, pour-over coffee, meditation, outdoor exploration, and snowboarding.
