Retina specialist and vitreoretinal surgeon

Lynn L. Huang, MD, MPH is a board-certified vitreoretinal specialist with extensive experience in the medical and surgical treatment of retinal diseases, including macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachments, and complex vitreoretinal disorders. In addition to serving as Medical Director of De La Pena Eye Clinic, Dr. Huang is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology and Vitreoretinal Surgery at Loma Linda University Eye Institute. She completed her vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary a través de Facultad de Medicina de Harvard after completing ophthalmology residency training in New York. Dr. Huang has served as a principal investigator and investigator for numerous clinical trials involving treatments for age-related macular degeneration, diabetic macular edema, and advanced retinal disease, including studies with the DRCR Network, Alcon Research, Allergan Research, and Ashvattha Therapeutics. She has also authored and presented research at leading national ophthalmology meetings, including the American Society of Retina Specialists y Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology.

Educación y experiencia

Dr. Lynn Huang earned her medical degree from the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and completed a vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary through Harvard Medical School. She also earned a Master of Public Health degree from the Harvard School of Public Health and graduated Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa from University of California, Los Angeles.

Dr. Huang is a board-certified vitreoretinal specialist with extensive experience treating diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, retinal detachments, and other complex retinal diseases. She currently serves as Medical Director at De La Pena Eye Clinic and Assistant Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at Loma Linda University Eye Institute.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Huang has participated in numerous clinical trials and research studies focused on advancing retinal care. She has also authored and presented research at leading ophthalmology conferences, including the American Society of Retina Specialists and the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology.

Dr. Lynn Huang is deeply committed to advancing retinal care through clinical research, education, and community outreach. She has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and presented her work at leading ophthalmology conferences, including meetings hosted by the American Society of Retina Specialists and the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology. In addition to her academic contributions, Dr. Huang serves as a reviewer for Investigative Ophthalmology & Visual Science (IOVS), an official journal of ARVO, helping shape emerging research in the field of ophthalmology. She is also passionate about mentorship and global eye care initiatives, having participated in programs focused on underserved communities, public health education, and international vision outreach. Throughout her career, Dr. Huang has combined academic excellence with compassionate patient care, earning recognition including the Healing Hands Award from Loma Linda University Health and Top Doctor honors from Pasadena Magazine.

Community Outreach & Mentorship

Dr. Lynn Huang has long been dedicated to mentorship, public health, and service to underserved communities. Throughout her career, she has participated in numerous community outreach initiatives, including health fairs, free clinics, and educational programs serving disadvantaged populations in Los Angeles and beyond. She has also contributed to international eye care efforts through Unite for Sight, helping support eye clinic programs in Honduras focused on vision care access and health education. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Huang actively mentors students and young professionals through the UCLA Alumni Association and has been involved with organizations promoting healthcare access, women’s health, and medical education. Her commitment to compassionate care and community service reflects her broader mission of improving vision health both inside and outside the clinic.
