Dougherty Laser Vision Expands Into Los
Angeles
Combines Forces with Steel Advanced Vision to Become One of Southern California's
Largest LASIK Providers and Refractive Surgery Research Centers
Dougherty Laser Vision has expanded into the Los Angeles
market through its acquisition of Steel Advanced Vision. With
the addition of surgery centers in Los Angeles and Westlake
Village, Dougherty Laser Vision now serves an expansive three
county area, and offers an unparalleled level of expertise
and service.
Steel Advanced Vision was founded in 1976 by refractive surgery
pioneer Douglas Steel, M.D., who in 1995 was one of the first
surgeons in the US to perform LASIK. Between them, Drs. Dougherty
and Steel have personally performed more than 25,000 LASIK
procedures.
"We are excited to expand our practice by joining forces
with Dr. Steel, who has earned a well-deserved reputation
as one of the world's foremost LASIK experts,"
says Dr. Dougherty. "Dougherty Laser Vision is growing
to become the region's premiere provider of refractive
surgery and ophthalmic services."
Drs. Dougherty and Steel are renowned for advancing the field
of vision correction through surgical excellence and research
on the latest advances in treatment. Both have served as FDA
investigators for numerous cutting edge procedures. Most recently,
they were among just a handful of researchers to participate
in the FDA clinical trials of the Staar Implantable Contact
Lens (ICL).
"I'm delighted to be a part of Dougherty Laser
Vision," says Dr. Steel. "Paul Dougherty is a
uniquely gifted surgeon, and there's simply no other
practice in Southern California that offers our level of expertise,
technology and service."
The newly expanded Dougherty Laser Vision operates four refractive
surgery centers located in Los Angeles (Larchmont Village),
Westlake Village, Camarillo and Santa Barbara. It is one of
the few refractive surgery practices in the U.S. to offer
three cutting edge laser technologies including the Alcon
Ladarvision laser and VISX Star S4 laser for custom treatments
and the scanning-slit Nidek EC-5000 laser.
